Membership Terms

These terms cover DIWA Membership, offered by DIWA Media Holdings, LLC (“DIWA,” “we,” “us”). They work alongside our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Refund Policy. By joining, you agree to them. Questions? Email hoy@diwamag.co.

Membership levels and prices

Gatherer: $5 a month or $50 a year
Maker: $15 a month or $150 a year
Weaver: $30 a month or $300 a year

Prices are in US dollars and include any applicable sales tax. The benefits of each level are listed on our membership page.

Billing and renewal

Your first payment is charged when you join. Monthly memberships renew every month, and annual memberships renew every year, on the date you joined, until you cancel. We’ll email you a reminder at least 7 days before an annual membership renews. Payments are processed securely through Squarespace and its payment partners. DIWA never sees or stores your full card number.

If a payment fails, we’ll try again and email you. If it still can’t go through after 14 days, your membership ends until you update your payment details.

Changing your level

You can move up or down a level at any time. Email hoy@diwamag.co and we’ll make the change. The new price starts with your next billing date.

Cancelling

You can cancel anytime from your account on diwamag.co, or by emailing hoy@diwamag.co. Your membership and benefits stay active through the end of the period you’ve already paid for, and you won’t be charged again.

Refunds

Monthly memberships: payments are non-refundable, but you can cancel before your next billing date at any time.

Annual memberships: if you change your mind within 14 days of joining or renewing, we’ll refund you in full, as long as you haven’t used your free ticket or received a printed chapter in that time. After 14 days, annual payments are non-refundable, and cancelling stops the next renewal.

Approved refunds go back to your original payment method within 10 business days.

Founding Members

Everyone who joins at any level by 11:59 p.m. Pacific on November 30, 2026, and whose first payment goes through, is a Founding Member. Founding Members are named in the printed pages of Chapter I: Islas de los Pintados.

We’ll print your name the way you send it to us. If we don’t hear from you by February 1, 2027, we’ll use the name on your account.
Prefer not to be listed? Tell us before February 1, 2027, and we’ll leave you off.
We may decline or shorten a name that’s offensive, impersonates someone, or doesn’t fit the layout, and we’ll check with you first.
Your name stays in Chapter I even if you cancel later. Refunded memberships aren’t included.

How benefits work

First access to tickets: members get an early window to buy tickets before each gathering goes on sale to the public. First access doesn’t guarantee a seat, since capacity is limited.
Digital editions: members receive the digital edition of each chapter by email 30 days after its print launch. Digital editions are for your personal use only and can’t be shared or resold.
Mini zines: members receive each mini zine a week before it goes to The Loom.
Members page: your first name and last initial appear on our members page within a week of joining, unless you ask us to leave you off.
Perks on The Weft: perks are offered by the businesses that list them, not by DIWA. Each business sets its own terms and may change or end a perk.
Maker and Weaver free ticket: one free ticket per membership year to a members’ gathering or screening, subject to availability. It doesn’t apply to chapter launch events, can’t be exchanged for cash, and doesn’t roll over to the next year.
Member pricing: Makers and Weavers get member pricing on event tickets. The discount is set per event.
DIWA goods: Makers and Weavers get early access to DIWA goods, and 15% off when our shop opens. The discount can’t be combined with other offers.

Printed chapters for Weavers

Weavers receive both printed chapters each year, shipped in April and October. Shipping within the United States is included. Outside the US, email us for a shipping quote.
To receive a chapter, you need to be an active Weaver when it ships. Monthly Weavers also need at least three paid months by the ship date. Annual Weavers qualify right away.
Each chapter’s first printing is limited to 100 numbered copies, reserved for Weavers in the order they joined. Once those are gone, Weavers receive a copy from the next printing.
We ship to the address on your account. We’ll email you before each chapter ships so you can update it. If a package is lost or arrives damaged, email us within 30 days and we’ll make it right.

Changes to prices and benefits

We may change membership prices or benefits as DIWA grows. We’ll email you at least 30 days before a price change affects your next payment, and you can cancel before then. Founding Members keep their Founding status and their name in Chapter I no matter what changes.

Your membership is personal

Memberships can’t be transferred or resold. We may end a membership, with a prorated refund, if a member harasses our community, our partners or our team, or misuses member benefits.
